Liverpool and Manchester United offered Djed Spence as Tottenham set price tag

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Djed Spence, with the Tottenham Hotspur full-back also offered to Manchester United. Spence, who was part of England‘s World Cup squad, is understood to be assessing his options despite Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi‘s desire to retain him as a squad player. Tottenham is reportedly open to selling Spence for a suitable offer.
Spence’s future at Tottenham has been uncertain, even after his performances on the international stage. Reports suggest that De Zerbi prefers Pedro Porro and Andy Robertson as primary full-back options, which could facilitate Spence’s departure. Tottenham, however, is not looking to sell the player cheaply, especially after his value increased during the summer. He signed a contract extension last August, tying him to the club until June 2028, which strengthens Tottenham’s negotiating position. The club is reportedly prepared to do business if they receive an offer in the region of £35 million.
Interest from Premier League and Serie A
Liverpool‘s interest in Spence comes as manager Andoni Iraola is reportedly seeking to reinforce his defensive line. Spence has emerged as a key target for the Reds. However, Liverpool faces competition for his signature, with other clubs also showing interest. The possibility of working under Iraola is seen as a significant factor for the player.
In addition to Liverpool, Manchester United has also been offered the opportunity to sign Spence. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Spence has been offered to both Liverpool and Manchester United. While it is not clear if Manchester United has expressed a definitive interest in signing Spence, the player’s representatives are reportedly offering him to Premier League clubs. Spence is capable of playing both as a right-back and a left-back.
The pursuit of Spence is further complicated by strong interest from Inter Milan. The Italian club has identified the England international as a priority to strengthen their full-back position, particularly after Denzel Dumfries‘s move to Real Madrid. Inter views Spence as a suitable fit for Cristian Chivu‘s system and has reportedly held discussions with the player’s representatives. The club is reportedly willing to increase its initial budget to compete with other interested parties, as Inter‘s hierarchy is concerned that Spence’s growing profile will lead to a further increase in his price tag.

Spence’s current situation
Spence was granted an extended holiday after helping England secure third place at the World Cup. He did not participate in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia, missing matches against teams like Auckland FC and Sydney FC. The player is reportedly open to returning to Italy, where he previously had a successful loan spell with Genoa. However, the appeal of joining a club like Liverpool remains a significant consideration for him. With the transfer deadline approaching, the competition for Spence is intensifying.
Journalist Ben Jacobs noted that Spence wants to play regularly, whether at right-back or left-back, and is therefore assessing his options. This desire for consistent playing time is a key factor in his potential departure from Tottenham, where Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are also options at full-back. Tottenham is reportedly willing to sell Spence for around £35 million.

The transfer window is nearing its close, and a decision regarding Spence’s future is expected soon.
