Yan Diomande prioritises PSG move despite Premier League interest

Arsenal, Man City & Real Madrid willing to match Liverpool's €100m Yan Diomande transfer bid as RB Leipzig star awaits green light from PSG

Yan Diomande, the RB Leipzig winger, remains committed to joining Paris Saint-Germain despite renewed interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Representatives for Diomande have reportedly received fresh approaches from these Premier League clubs over the past week, but the player’s preference for PSG has not changed.

Liverpool had previously made a formal offer of €100 million for Diomande, which Leipzig rejected. While Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are reportedly willing to match this figure, PSG remains Diomande’s primary priority. The winger has already reached a personal terms agreement with the French champions for a contract extending until 2031.

Leipzig’s Stance and PSG Negotiations

Leipzig has set a minimum asking price of €120 million for Diomande. Despite the high valuation, Leipzig officials are reportedly aware that retaining Diomande for another season may be challenging due to the calibre of interested clubs and the player’s desire for a move. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly taken personal control of negotiations with Red Bull, the parent company of Leipzig, to secure the transfer.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that an agreement is nearing completion, aided by Al-Khelaifi’s relationship with Red Bull’s hierarchy. Leipzig has internally accepted that Diomande is likely to move to Paris. A potential hurdle in the deal involves a loan-back clause, which Leipzig initially explored to keep Diomande for another year. However, PSG manager Luis Enrique is reportedly against such an arrangement, wanting the winger immediately for his squad to strengthen attacking options for upcoming domestic and European campaigns.

PSG is reportedly prepared to pay around €110 million to finalise the deal. The club’s determination to secure Diomande’s services is evident, even as Premier League clubs continue their efforts to sign him. Issues related to Diomande’s image rights following a change in representation are currently being discussed, but all parties involved are confident these will not derail the transfer.

Renewed Premier League Interest

Despite Diomande’s clear preference, Premier League clubs continue to pursue him. Liverpool remains a persistent admirer and has maintained regular dialogue with the player’s camp, hoping for any changes in the situation that might open a window for their bid. Arsenal renewed their contact after reportedly missing out on another attacking target, Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The Gunners had been monitoring Diomande throughout the summer and have made fresh enquiries.

Manchester City has also reaffirmed its interest. With Savinho reportedly expected to move to Tottenham Hotspur, City is still in the market for a wide attacker. They have indicated their readiness to make a move if Diomande’s stance towards PSG were to change. However, all three Premier League clubs have been informed that Diomande’s focus remains on a switch to the Parc des Princes.

Diomande’s Impact and World Cup Performance

Diomande’s significant impact in his first Bundesliga campaign has attracted widespread interest. He joined Leipzig from Leganes last summer and concluded the 2025-26 season with 12 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances. He became the fourth-youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach double figures for goals in a single campaign, achieving this at 19 years and 114 days old. His performance contributed to Leipzig’s qualification for the Champions League.

During the World Cup, Diomande started all four of Ivory Coast’s matches, playing 332 minutes and registering one assist. The Elephants advanced to the round of 32 before being eliminated 2-1 by Norway. The scale of interest in Diomande is understandable given his recent performances.

Negotiations are reportedly in their final stages, with PSG determined to complete what could be one of the summer’s biggest transfers, aiming to have Diomande playing under Luis Enrique next season.
