Manchester United Renews Interest in Real Madrid Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni

Manchester United has reportedly made a fresh inquiry regarding the availability of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. This renewed interest comes despite previous reports suggesting the French international had agreed to a contract extension with the Spanish club.
United has been a long-term admirer of the midfielder, tracking his progress since his time in Ligue 1. The club is reportedly undeterred by recent developments concerning his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, which included reports of a contract extension until 2031.
Tchouameni’s Contract Status and Madrid’s Stance
While an official announcement from Real Madrid regarding Tchouameni’s contract extension is still pending, it has been widely understood that the midfielder committed his future to Los Blancos. This long-term commitment was reportedly intended to deter interest from other clubs, including those in the Premier League.
The situation surrounding Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid was further complicated by a reported physical altercation with teammate Federico Valverde during a training session last May. This incident led to internal disciplinary proceedings and transfer speculation, though both players later resolved the issue, and the club moved to secure Tchouameni’s long-term future.
The manager’s confidence in the player’s abilities was a key factor in the club’s decision to pursue a contract extension, aiming to keep him in Madrid until 2031.
Tchouameni joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for a reported transfer fee of €80 million. Since his arrival, he has been part of a successful period for the club, winning the La Liga and Champions League titles, among other honors. Last season, he made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists.

Manchester United’s Midfield Reinforcement Efforts
Manchester United’s pursuit of Tchouameni underscores their ongoing efforts to strengthen their midfield. The Red Devils have already brought in Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa this summer to bolster their options in the center of the pitch.
The club is preparing for its return to the Champions League next season and aims to further reinforce the squad to compete at the highest level. United is reportedly looking for a permanent successor to Casemiro, who recently completed a move to Inter Miami.
Reports suggest that United sees Tchouameni as an ideal profile to anchor their midfield for the coming years, offering both physical presence and technical quality that they believe is currently lacking in the holding role. The club’s interest in signing Tchouameni was reignited following doubts about his future at Real Madrid.
In addition to their pursuit of Tchouameni, Manchester United is also reportedly close to finalizing a deal to sign David Eze, a midfielder from Manchester City. Eze, who has a European passport, has attracted interest from several European clubs.
United has been active in the transfer market this summer, having already completed four signings: Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow, and Tynan Thompson. The club continues to seek additions, with plans to recruit another midfielder, a left winger, a striker, and/or a left-back this summer.
The Red Devils are reportedly not deterred by the reports of Tchouameni’s agreed extension at Real Madrid, as there has been no formal announcement from the Spanish club.
Tchouameni fits Manchester United’s preferred age profile and is considered an outright No. 6. His contract with Real Madrid reportedly runs until 2031.
